Interview Question Generator: Real, Relevant Practice Questions, Free, in Your Browser
Quick answer: Enter a job title, pick your industry and experience level, choose your question categories, and click Generate Questions, a relevant set is pulled instantly from a ~390-question bank, free, with no signup. Pro Mode adds job-description and CV-based questions, a timed mock interview, real follow-up questions, an AI Interviewer, and rule-based answer scoring with improvement suggestions.
Most "interview question generator" tools either hand you the same 20 generic questions no matter what job you type in, or lock real practice behind a paid AI subscription. This one takes a different approach: a large, hand-organized question bank, roughly 390 questions split across 13 industries and 4 experience levels, plus HR, Behavioural, Situational, and Common categories, so a Senior Software Engineer and an Entry-Level Marketing Coordinator genuinely see different, level-appropriate questions rather than the same list with a different label stuck on top.
This is also an honest tool about what "AI" actually means here. The free tier has no AI at all, it's a static, well-organized database, which is exactly why it works instantly with zero wait and zero API cost. Pro's more dynamic features, generating questions from a pasted job description or CV, scoring an answer, suggesting a realistic follow-up, are built from transparent, rule-based text analysis (keyword matching, pattern detection, simple heuristics) rather than a wrapped third-party AI model, and the "AI Interviewer" chat is clearly labeled as a scripted flow, not a live conversation with a language model.
1How the Question Bank Actually Works
Technical questions are the ones that genuinely change by industry and seniority: a Software Engineering entry-level technical question asks about the difference between a stack and a queue, while a Senior in the same field is asked to design for a 10x traffic spike, and a Healthcare Manager sees questions about staffing shortages and patient safety instead of code at all. HR, Behavioural, Situational, and Common questions are shared across industries but still scale with experience level, an Entry-Level behavioural question asks about working in a team, while a Manager-level one asks about a difficult performance conversation with a direct report. Random Question Mode surfaces one question at a time from whatever combination you've set, useful for a quick daily practice habit rather than working through a full list.

Free covers the everyday case well on its own: get a relevant list of real questions for your exact job title, industry, and level, and work through them at your own pace with private notes and a checklist. Pro, currently free to use, turns that into a full practice suite, question generation anchored to a real job posting or your real CV, a timed mock interview that simulates pressure, and actual feedback on your answers instead of just a list to read.
3Job-Description & CV-Based Questions: How the Analysis Works
Paste a job description and click Analyze, and the tool runs three separate rule-based checks against the text: it scans for industry-specific keywords (JavaScript and React point to software, GAAP and reconciliation point to finance, and so on) to guess the industry; it scans for seniority language ("senior," "manager," "entry-level") and years-of-experience phrases ("5+ years") to guess the level; and it matches against a curated skills dictionary to pull out the specific tools and skills mentioned. Those detected skills get turned into direct questions, "The job description emphasizes React. Can you walk me through a specific example of using React to solve a real problem?", so two different job descriptions genuinely produce different questions. CV analysis works the same way in reverse, pulling detected skills and rough years of experience from your own pasted background.
4Mock Interview & the AI Interviewer
The Mock Interview mode sequences a set of real questions (5, 8, or 12) with a genuine countdown timer per question (60, 90, 120 seconds, or untimed), auto-submitting your answer-so-far if time runs out, exactly like a real interview clock. Close the tab mid-session and a "Resume" banner picks up exactly where you left off next time. The AI Interviewer is a separate, chat-style practice mode, honestly labeled as a scripted, rule-based flow rather than a live AI conversation: it asks a real question from the bank, scores your typed answer using the same transparent rules described below, reacts with a message tied directly to that score, and asks a genuine, category-matched follow-up question when your answer scores below 60, an actual STAR-related probe for a behavioural question, a scale/trade-off probe for a technical one, not a randomly generated one.
5What "Answer Scoring" Actually Measures
Every score is built from rules you could check yourself, not a hidden AI judgment. STAR structure (worth the largest share of the score) checks your answer's wording for language that signals a Situation ("when I was working on…"), a Task ("my goal was to…"), an Action ("I implemented…"), and a Result ("as a result, we increased…" or a concrete number), awarding 25 points for each part actually detected. Specificity rewards concrete numbers, percentages, and dollar figures over vague generalities. Length checks whether your answer falls in a healthy 60-180 word range, long enough to cover STAR, short enough to stay focused. JD Relevance, only scored once a job description has been analyzed, checks what share of its key skills your answer actually mentions. The improvement suggestions you see are generated directly from whichever of those checks came back weakest, so a low score always comes with a specific, actionable reason.
Every job title, industry, pasted job description, pasted CV, checklist mark, answer note, mock interview answer, and saved history entry is generated and stored entirely inside your own browser using JavaScript running locally and your browser's own storage. Nothing is uploaded to a server, logged, or visible to anyone but you, at any point, in Free or Pro Mode.
6Frequently Asked Questions
Built on the STAR interview method. The behavioural question set and answer-structure scoring in this tool are built around the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result), a widely-used, well-documented framework for structuring behavioural interview answers, rather than a proprietary or invented scoring system.
