About SmallStudyTools
SmallStudyTools is a free, browser-based toolkit of 100+ tools spanning writing and study, career documents, business and design, and everyday calculations; built for anyone who needs something done quickly, privately, and without creating an account. Nothing you type, paste or upload is ever sent to a server.
Why We Built This
It is 11pm the night before a submission deadline, or a client meeting is tomorrow morning. You need to check a word count, calculate a GPA, format a citation, build an invoice, or put together a quick certificate — and you end up with five tabs open, half of them asking you to sign up or pay just to use a basic tool.
We built SmallStudyTools because we believe the everyday tools that students, freelancers and small businesses reach for should be free, fast and private. No accounts. No subscriptions. No documents being uploaded to servers you know nothing about. Just tools that work — the moment you need them.
What We Are
SmallStudyTools is a collection of 100+ free browser-based tools for anyone who needs to write, calculate, plan, present or apply for something — students at every level, job seekers building a CV, freelancers invoicing a client, and entrepreneurs and small businesses handling their own documents and marketing without hiring outside help. Every single tool on this site runs entirely inside your browser. That is not a marketing claim — it is a technical reality. Your data never leaves your device.
How browser-based processing works: when you paste an essay into our word counter, upload a CV into our review tool, or fill in an invoice generator, the work happens in JavaScript running on your own computer or phone — not on a server. The result appears instantly because there is no round-trip to any server, and your content stays on your screen and nowhere else.
Who We Serve
SmallStudyTools started as a toolkit for students, but the same qualities — free, fast, private, no signup — turned out to matter just as much to people building careers and businesses. Today our tools are used by:

We're adding new tools all the time, many of them built directly from user requests — so if you don't see exactly what you need today, keep checking back.
Simple Mode and Pro Mode
We design every tool with two modes. Simple Mode gives you the core function immediately — clean, uncluttered, no distractions. Pro Mode — free right now on every tool — unlocks deeper features for people who want more control: extra templates, bulk generation, tailoring, verification and more, depending on the tool.
This approach came directly from user feedback. Some people just want a quick word count or a single certificate. Others want keyword-matched cover letters, bulk-generated certificates, or full ATS scoring all at once. Both are valid needs — and both deserve a great experience.
Our Approach to Privacy
We made a deliberate decision from day one to build every tool so it runs entirely client-side — inside your browser rather than on a server. This was not the easiest technical approach, but it was the right one.
When you are working on a dissertation, a CV, a client invoice or a confidential business plan, the last thing you should have to wonder is whether your document is being stored somewhere or used to train an AI model. With SmallStudyTools, it is not. We do not see it. We do not store it. We do not have access to it. Your work stays on your device — full stop.
Our Commitment
SmallStudyTools will always be free for core use. We believe that access to the tools people need to study, apply for jobs, and run a small business should not depend on their financial situation.
We are continuously adding new tools based on what our users ask for. Every tool on this site started as a real request. If there is something you need that we do not have yet, we genuinely want to hear from you.
